Appointed unto Death
Hebrews 9:27.

It is a fact that all men must die.
No ordinary human has ever defeated death. Whether rich or poor, slave or free, king or pauper, all have died, there is no escape from physical death.

Death is something that most people don’t like to talk or think about.
However, in the midst of life is death.

There is a verse in the Bible that states this fact, in the letter to the Hebrews:
Hebrews 9:27 it says “It is appointed unto men once to die”, however the verse does not end there, for it goes on to say, “and after that, the judgement”.

The Bible tells us that there will be a judgement day when all the dead , great and small will stand before the judgement seat of God. (The Great White Throne Judgement).

One may not like to think about this, they may even deny it by saying they don’t believe it but the fact is, the Bible does say it and one has to ask the question, if the Bible is true, what then?

There may be some that say, well I am not worried about this because I have not really done anything wrong, I am not a bad person.
There may be those that say I have been christened, I have gone to church, I have given to charity, so there is no reason why God, if He exists, would judge me as a sinner and not let me into heaven.

However, the Bible teaches that none of these things keep us from the judgement of God.
Each one of us has a conscience  (a person's moral sense of right and wrong).

God gave Ten Commandments to Moses.

Thou shalt have no other gods before me

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy

Honour thy father and thy mother

Thou shalt not murder

Thou shalt not commit adultery

Thou shalt not steal

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour

Thou shalt not covet

Anyone who breaks one of God’s Commandments is a sinner.

James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

Not one of us has kept the whole law. We are all guilty.
Not so, you say. I am not guilty. I am not a sinner.

Well! Lets have a closer look.

Any thing that takes the place of God in your life is a false god.
It could be your car, your house, your spouse, your children, your bank balance, your career or your sport.
Whatever you put before God is your idol.
That’s the first two commandments broken.

Have you ever taken the Lord’s name in vain?
Have you ever used the name of God or Jesus as a swear word? If so.
That’s the third one broken.

Do you always make the Sabbath a holy day?
That’s the fourth one broken.

Have you always given honour to your parents, or have you given them backchat or been disrespectful or rude?
That’s the fifth one broken.

Have you ever murdered?
1 John 3:15 says: Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that eternal life does not reside in a murderer.

You may have not physically killed someone but he who hates has the potential.
That’s the sixth one broken.

Have you ever committed adultery? No way, you say.

In Matthew 5:28, Jesus said these words:
27 You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’
28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman (or man)  to lust after her (or him) has already  committed adultery with her in his
heart.
That’s the seventh one broken.

Have you ever stolen something, large or small, significant or insignificant?
That’s the eighth one broken.

Have you ever told a lie, white lie included, exaggerated, withheld the truth?
That’s the ninth one broken.

Have you ever coveted something that others have, felt jealous of someone or something.?
That is the tenth one broken.

How are we doing? Are we still not guilty, can we really say we have not sinned?
If you stood before God today would you be innocent or guilty?

If there was a sentence for sin, would you be entitled to receive it?

Well! The Bible says there is a sentence for sin.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death,

That is why all men die. Death is the price of sin.

Ezekiel 18:20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die.

However, if someone stepped forward and paid the price for your sin, you could be set free.

This is the Good News.
The Bible tells us that this is exactly what happened.
God in the person of Jesus Christ came to earth to give His life as a ransom for sin. He was crucified on a cross to take away the sins of the world.

Forgiveness is available to whoever is willing to receive this gift.

That verse quoted earlier, Romans 6:23 goes on to say: For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The Bible tells us that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s standard.
There is none righteous no not one. We all are guilty before a holy God.

God offers forgiveness of sin to whoever will put their trust in Jesus Christ.
Only through Him can we be saved from an eternity in hell.

Joh 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Joh 3:17  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Joh 3:18  He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name
of the only begotten Son of God.

What must I do to be saved?
Repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

Repentance is agreeing with God concerning our sin, admitting our sin and asking for His forgiveness and trusting in Jesus Christ for salvation.

This is the simple Gospel message that is revealed in the Bible.
It says in Psalm 95. Today, if you hear His voice, harden not your heart.

Isaiah 55:6  Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call upon Him whilst he is near:

Romans 10 v 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

If this blog has spoken to you.
You can pray this short prayer, to receive Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour.
However, this prayer is not what saves you. Just praying this prayer will mean nothing, unless you are genuinely sorry for your sin. It is essential that you are truly repentant and willing to turn from your sin and trust in Jesus Christ as your Saviour.
This prayer must be from your heart.

A Prayer for Salvation
Lord, I realise that I am a sinner, separated from you by my sin.
I believe that Jesus Christ came to die for my sins on the cross.
I repent of all my sins and turn to You.
I ask You to forgive me and cleanse me from my sin.
I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead that I may have eternal life.
I pray that you would take my life and make me a new person in Jesus Christ.

Thank You in the name of Jesus. Amen
                      ……………………\\............................

If you sincerely prayed this prayer, tell someone.
To confess Jesus Christ is an act of faith.

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
