Jesus Prayed for You
Jeff Unsworth

Question: Does God always hear my prayers?

Well, one thing is sure, nothing escapes God's attention.

However, does God hear with the intent of answering?.

What do the scriptures say?

The LORD is far from the wicked: but he heareth the prayer of the righteous” (Proverbs 15:29).

“And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood” (Isaiah 1:15).

“He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination” (Proverbs 28:9).

“Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law,, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts” (Zechariah 7:12-13).

“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me” (Psalm 66:18).

“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2).

“For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil” (1 Peter 3:12).

“Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof” (Proverbs 1:28-30).

“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts” (James 4:3).

“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered” (1 Peter 3:7).

I may be marring my prayers by my sin but as a believer, I am a child of God, even if a disobedient one. Of course, I need to repent and ask God for forgiveness and restore my fellowship with God.

However, like Peter the Apostle, Satan has desired to have us but Jesus said, "I have prayed for you".

The scripture tells us that we have a High Priest, who is familiar with all our weaknesses and Who ever makes intercession for us

*Jesus prayed for YOU!*

Notice the personal pronouns in this passage.

John 17:2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to *as many* as You have given Him.

3 And this is eternal life, that *they* may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

9 I pray for *them.* I do not pray for the world but for *those* whom You have given Me, for *they* are Yours.

20. I do not pray for these alone but also for *those* who will believe through their word

24 Father, I desire that *they* also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that *they* may behold My glory which You have given Me;

It was whilst we were dead in sin that Jesus died for us.

When we were incapable and unable.

Whilst we were in sin. It was then that Jesus prayed for us.

I love my children, my grandchildren and my great grandchildren. They are all my children.

I love them even though I don't like them sometimes.

Our Father is like that. He doesn't like our sin, our disobedience, our waywardness but He won't abandon us either.

We have a mediator, the only mediator.

It's not Mary, St Christopher or St Joseph.

It's Jesus our High Priest.

We have been brought nigh, through His sacrifice on the cross, which we remember again this morning.
